How to repurpose content easily and quickly. How to organize your content in a content bank that you can access easily. How to schedule a skeleton of content for each platform. How to repurpose a sales page. How to repurpose a blog post.
Repurposing content isn’t just about duplicating across platforms. It’s about tailoring the repurposed content for each audience. LinkedIn and Instagram audiences differ greatly, so the content should, too. Consider who’s on the platform, their attention span, search intent, and consumption habits as you repurpose.
Repurposing content is so much more than sharing the same piece of content across multiple platforms.
In fact, if that’s your plan to repurpose, just don’t.
Repurpose with Purpose!
Things to consider when repurposing content.
Who is on this particular platform?
What is their attention span on this platform? What are they looking for AKA what is their search intent?
How do they consume the content?
Ie – LinkedIn audience is very different from your Instagram audience. They require different things.
You cannot simply take an article you’ve written for LinkedIn and post it to Instagram – even in part.
It needs to be repurposed for the platform.
There’s a misconception that you must start with a long form piece of content like a blog or a podcast episode. Would it surprise you to learn that you can also take a short post and make it into something bigger?
Something as simple as a 30 second Instagram reel can be expanded on to make into a blog post.
That blog post can then become the bones of a podcast episode (or guest episode – or audio track for the blog).
That post then becomes 3-5 Pinterest pins that will drive traffic for years to come.
If you have a CTA (call to action) for a LM (lead magnet) on your blog post and audio file, you’ll be building your email list from cold traffic on Pinterest.
And it just keeps going on and on and on.
According to Meagan Williamson of Pin Potential, at the time of this writing, you can schedule pins to go out for a second time about 2 weeks after the first round – to different boards which will continue to drive traffic to your post for years to come.
Yesterday, I delivered a workshop where people could bring a piece of content in to zuish up. We had a Manifestation sales page and a Human Design blog post to work with.
For the sales page we:
👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻 we did all of this in 70 minutes – and we had time left over for chit chat and a quick Instagram stories tutorial.
YES.
You can repurpose content in a way that keeps things fresh and entices your ideal fit clients to not only read but to hire you.
What is Trello?
Trello is my very favourite tool for keeping all of my content ideas organized. With the free version, you can create up to 10 boards and then add lists within them with posts in each. It’s like having a post it notes board directly on your laptop!
I have boards for my podcast, blog, social media, business skeleton (here I keep links that I used to always be searching for) and more.
As a Manifesting Generator in Human Design, as I respond to things, I add them to the board they fit best in and then I’m never staring at a blank slate when I go to create content.
Currently I have hundreds of post ideas on my social media board alone!
Ultimately, lean into how you create best.
For me, I have 9 of the 10 free Trello boards in use ATM.
Ideas
This is paramount for me because my open Head Centre in Human Design is always swirling with ideas! Keeping them here allows me to free my mind.
Social Media Inspiration
This board is where I save reels, audio, carousel ideas that I’d like to remake as my own.
Social Media in Process
This is where I house captions, quotes, posts that are ready for graphics.
Content by Design Course
Here I keep a list for each of the students in my course.
On each list is a record of the goals that they started the course with and the greatest struggles they were having when creating content. I have their business model tracked there and any and all products that they currently have available for sale (as the goal is to fine tune this as we go along) I also have a link to their google docs with their copy for me to edit as we go through the course.
My Business Board in Trello
This is where I keep all of the things that would otherwise be lost in the mess that is my computer files.
Links to articles I’ve written for other sites, domain information, processes to follow for things I don’t do on a regular basis, etc.
Market Research Board in Trello
I’m always conducting market research in my business. I’ll ask questions and do polls on my Instagram stories, workshops, emails, and even in daily conversation. I track this, as best as I can remember to, in my Trello board so that I have my ideal customers pain points on hand at all times.
Testimonial Board in Trello
Because… when I don’t remember to put my testimonials all in one place, I end up wasting hours upon hours searching files in my computer. This could also be housed in my business board if I run out of free boards to use.
HACK for getting more Trello boards
If you need more than the 10 Trello boards that are provided with the free version of Trello, you can add another workspace. You can also ask others to join your workspace if you’d like to share it.
Wondering what types of things to share to your Trello boards to help you create content?
This becomes the starting point for your content so that you’re never staring at a blank screen again.
How to Repurpose Content as a Human Design Generator
As a Human Design Generator, the magic for you is when you’re in response. I get that you can’t always post right in that moment but when you can, please do so!
When you can’t post right away, simply add it to your Trello board or Smarter Queue (more on that next) scheduler and trust that the energy of response will carry through when it’s posted.
In no time, you’ll have a Trello board of things that you can respond to all over again to make magical content.
Now —- when you go back through your content to repurpose it, you’ll respond as well. So maybe an Instagram post hits you in the Sacral on the re-read. Take a few minutes and make it into a reel – or a Youtube short – or create a few pins – or turn it into a blog post.
It gets to be easy to live in response to the world around you, and this includes responding to your own content.
Just like a Generator type, the magic is in what’s alive for you right now. As a Manifesting Generator, you’ll be drawn to respond to, comment on, build many things.
And that’s ok. It’s time to let it be ok that your interests are varied and that you’re at your best when you’re multitasking.
Yes, you need to give your audience a clear expectation of how you help them and what you do but within that, you need the freedom to play a little.
Keep a Trello board of all of the things that light you up when you respond in the moment.
Allow yourself to have several posts in your Smarter Queue in different stages of completion as when your fire is on, you’ll go in there and create like a MOFO.
Many of the Projectors I work with can feel stuck because they’re waiting for an invitation to create content. As a Human Design Projector, you need to wait for the invitation for the big things in life, not for every little thing.
However, because that invitation feels so good in your body, we need to set you up to feel it in your content creation process.
I’d love for you to consider that energetic invitations are real. So many Projectors have told me that they can tell when someone is open to receiving their guidance and when they’re not.
Trust this.
Also, when people follow you on social media, read your blog, or listen to your podcast, they are inviting you to share.
Trust this.
Leverage the power of AI in content creation. How? Put something you’ve created through any AI software and ask it to recognize you or tell you what’s good about it.
Trust this.
Gosh, everyone wants to be a Manifestor, right? Yet the Manifestors that I’ve had the pleasure of working with often feel more stuck than anyone else.
Why? Because they are so conditioned to feel like their power and ability is a bad thing.
If this is you, start standing powerfully each and every time you create.
You are the shit.
We need you to get the party started so that Generators and Manifesting Generators can respond. Then Projectors can guide and Reflectors can mirror back what’s working and what’s not.
How do you repurpose content as a Manifestor?
You just START.
Start anywhere.
You have SOMETHING to say.
Say it.
And then elaborate on it to make it a longer blog post or a podcast.
Then delegate.
If you possibly can, have someone come along behind you and create snippets of everything that you’re doing.
You’re not designed to do all of the work yourself.
Let this be ok.
I am not a Human Design Reflector. My lived experience is that of a Manifesting Generator which is very different from your experience.
As a Reflector, the magic for you is in sharing what you’re seeing in your community.
Not the world. Your community.
And this is timely.
I don’t think you’re going to be someone who can look at a lot of things you posted a year ago and repurpose them.
For you, again this is my perception, not my lived experience, I think it will be more effective for you to recreate the same piece of content across a few platforms for more immediate publishing.
What this could look like:
– You create a podcast episode and out of that you create 5 social media posts for the week and 3 stories.
– You make your show notes into a blog post.
– You create 3 Pinterest Pins to either the blog post or the podcast episode.
And that’s your week’s worth of content.
We rely on you to reflect what you’re seeing now.
This doesn’t mean you can’t create for a month at a time. You just may need to pepper in a few things that come up for you as you see them.
No matter what your Human Design type, scheduling out what I refer to as a skeleton or shell of content can be freeing.
What this is is the baseline for how often you’ll show up online.
So maybe you schedule out 3 posts a week as your shell and then when you’re in response, you post a couple of things live.
Or when you see something you’d love to offer your reflection on, you do it in the moment.
Or …
The point is that you don’t have to worry if life comes up and you can honour other parts of your design.
For instance, you may be a 2nd line profile who needs to hermit away.
Or your root pulse may be off.
Or maybe you’re low in your emotional wave.
Honour that.
Your skeleton or shell is there to hold up your framework when you can’t be ‘on’.
If you’d like to post 3 times a week, you only need 12 posts to carry you through the month. That may sound like a lot, but once you get into the loop of creating and recreating, you’ll be able to have 12 posts in no time.
Would you like to see how I do this live?
When you grab your Smarter Queue through my affiliate link, not only do you get twice as long to trial it, I’ll show you how to use it to create and schedule a month’s worth of content AND how to repurpose that content easily to be used throughout the year.
Seriously.
Here’s the link to grab your free trial.
1 – This was a shocker for me when I started and it sold me on the entire system.
Smarter Queue will pull all of your past posts OR you can give it criteria to pull from – ie – pull the posts with the most comments, likes, etc. or pull all past posts.
Then, it hosts them in your drafts so that you can go along and repurpose any you’d like to reuse.
Currently , I have 190 posts in my drafts to play with.
As a Human Design Generator type (I’m a Manifesting Generator) this is GOLD.
2 – You can set up categories in Smarter Queue to keep your posts organized.
This allows you to set up a posting schedule (once you have a baseline of content in the queue to work from) and Smarter Queue will take over the posting time slots for you!
3 – For each post, you can repurpose it directly in Smarter Queue as many times as you’d like and schedule these extra posts out or allow your post schedule to do it for you. I normally create 3 versions of each post with a different picture for each and schedule them out a couple of months apart.
This means that each post I create is at least 3 posts in one.
Once you have done this for a while, your posting calendar is FULL for months to come.
Now…. as I said, use tools like Trello and Smarter Queue to create the skeleton of content that you need. Then, allow yourself to follow your strategy in the moment to bulk it up.
Here’s my affiliate link for your Smarter Queue trial.
This gives you access to twice as long to try it out and to a free training from me on how to use it to build your skeleton posts for the year. YES. You read that right.
For just $27 you can purchase the replay of this workshop where we repurposed a sales page and a blog post. With the replay you’ll also get a workbook and Instagram story templates to get you started.
You’ll immediately have access to the video where you’ll see how we got over 30 posts, worked through some limiting beliefs around giving free content, showing up consistently on social media, feeling like you can’t say what you most need to say, and more. It was an action packed session!
This replay comes with a workbook and Instagram story templates to help you get started.
