I have to be honest. I’m struggling with what to blog about today. Christmas is such an interesting time of year, isn’t it? As women especially, we run around trying to make sure that everything is perfect for the Big Day. But that’s just it. It’s ONE DAY. Does anyone else sit around, when all is said and done, and think “Is that it? It’s over?”
You’re not alone.
This year, Christmas at our house will be as beautiful as ever but it will be different, and that’s ok. I have spent the last 4 months going to school and running a business. I have worked most days that I haven’t been in school. This was not my intention. However, it is what it is. Christmas, it seems, is a non-event this year. Our goal, as a family, is to relax, recharge, and reconnect. We need to take a step back from the outside world and a step towards each other. We need to find our centre again.
I’ll be missing my Andrea Gracie (and Matt too!) as they can’t be with us but we will enjoy the season just the same. We’ll put a fire and some Christmas music on, open our home on Christmas Eve to friends and family, and not even worry about the dust bunnies or the fact that some of our traditional items are missing. (I’m secretly hoping no one will notice the lack of butter tarts.)
We will enjoy the days ahead. Perhaps more than ever.

Christmas Eve by the Fire…….
