Unjaded Episode 122: Content Creation as a Procrastination Strategy
Content creation is an essential part of business, but for many entrepreneurs, it becomes a hidden form of procrastination. If you find yourself endlessly tweaking a blog post, re-recording videos, or postponing a launch because your content “isn’t ready yet,” you’re not alone. This cycle of perfectionism and avoidance can keep you stuck in busywork instead of moving your business forward. In this post, I break down why content creation often masquerades as productivity and how to shift from constant creation to strategic action.
✅ How perfectionism, lack of clarity, and fear of visibility stall your progress
✅ The key signs that you’re using content creation to avoid launching or selling
✅ Actionable steps to publish before it’s perfect and focus on revenue-generating tasks
Plus, hear how one entrepreneur in Unjaded broke free from the content loop and finally launched her lead magnet—proving that taking imperfect action leads to real momentum.
Stop letting content creation hold you back.
Prefer to listen? You can do that here.
If any of these resonate, it’s time to shift your mindset and approach so that you can start making the money you’re here to make and having the impact you’re here to have.
In this episode of Unjaded, I share insights from a client session where a coach realized she was stuck in the loop of creating but not launching. By stepping back, clarifying her message, and committing to publishing, she was able to finally release her lead magnet and start to build her audience so that when she launches, she’s speaking to real people and not crickets!
Progress often requires taking imperfect action and trusting the process – and yourself!
Take one piece of content you’ve been holding onto and publish it this week. Whether it’s a blog post, podcast episode, or social media update, share it with your audience. Your business will thank you for moving forward.
Content creation is a powerful tool when used intentionally, but it’s no substitute for action. By recognizing when you’re procrastinating, setting clear goals, and prioritizing publishing, you can break the cycle and start seeing real results in your business.

Are You Using Content Creation as a Procrastination Tool?
Welcome back—or welcome here if it’s your first time!
Today, I want to ask you a tough question: Are you using content creation as a way to procrastinate in your business?
This comes from a client session that, honestly, pains me to talk about. I’ve been working with this client on and off for a year, and she still hasn’t fully gotten her business off the ground. Now, let me be clear—this is rare. And she is fully responsible for her choices and actions.
That’s lesson number one:
If you’re a coach, mentor, or service provider, this is something you need to hear. We cannot make people take action. Your job is to guide and support—but not to carry the weight of their choices.
Does it frustrate me that this client isn’t further ahead? Yes. But she keeps coming back, which tells me she’s getting something from this process. We’ve done a lot of work around the real reasons she’s not moving forward.
And one of those reasons? She’s stuck in a content creation loop.
Here’s what’s happening with this client (and maybe you’ll recognize yourself in this pattern too):
🔹 She has a year’s worth of content sitting in a folder.
🔹 She’s recorded 20+ podcast episodes—but keeps redoing them instead of publishing.
🔹 She’s written four courses—but hasn’t put a single one up for sale.
🔹 She has six funnels and three lead magnets—but none are live.
This is a huge red flag. If you keep reworking, tweaking, and “perfecting” instead of hitting publish, you’re procrastinating.
One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is creating a course before testing if their audience actually wants it.
The only way to know if what you’re creating will sell is to put it in front of real people. You need to get vulnerable and actually ask people to buy.
💡 Beta launching is your best friend. Offer your course at a lower price point, see if people buy, and refine as you go. If no one bites? You just saved yourself weeks (or months) of wasted time creating something no one wants.
If you’re constantly creating but never selling, you’re keeping yourself broke.
👉 You’re writing blog posts, but not making offers.
👉 You’re recording podcasts, but not leading people into your paid programs.
👉 You’re building courses, but not testing demand.
At some point, you have to stop hiding behind content and start making sales.
And I get it—selling is scary.
But here’s the truth: People can’t pay you if they don’t know what you offer.
This client keeps telling herself, “It’s not perfect yet. I just need one more thing.”
Spoiler alert: It will never be perfect.
We use perfectionism to keep ourselves safe. But here’s what I long for you to understand—playing it safe isn’t going to build your business.
You have what it takes to change people’s lives. But that only happens if you put yourself out there.
I’m challenging you to take one piece of content that you’ve been sitting on and publish it.
✅ Post that blog.
✅ Publish that podcast episode.
✅ Launch that offer.
✅ Email your list.
Whatever it is—just do it.
Because done is better than perfect.
That’s the difference between successful entrepreneurs and those who stay stuck—we take imperfect action.
And when you’re brave enough to show up, you inspire others to do the same.
So step out of the content creation loop and start making money in your business today.
You’ve got this. 🚀
