Introduction to Human Design Gate 7 and Gene Key 7

Human Design Gate 7 is all about influential leadership. People with this gate defined are natural born leaders. People follow them even when they’re not trying to lead. Without Gate 31 (the other half of the channel) defined, they probably won’t occupy a public leadership role.

It is the unspoken goal of Gate 7 to influence without being influenced.

Location of Gate 7 in your Human Design Chart

Gate 7 is located in the G-center of the bodygraph or human design chart. 

The 7-31 Channel and Gate 7’s Human Design Circuitry

Think of Human Design Circuitry as the circuit board that lies beneath the rest of your design. Circuitry is the thing that all other aspects are placed upon. It lays the foundation and the energies here never change.  

There are 3 main circuits in Human Design: Individual, Collective, and Tribal. 

Channel 7-31 is a generated channel. Part of the understanding circuit, people with this channel defined innately understand how to lead. It’s important to understand the patterns and behaviours of those that you lead in order to lead effectively. This is the channel of elected leadership, people CHOOSE to follow you if this channel is defined and you have great influence over them.

Tapping into Gate 7’s Energy

How does Gate 7 show up in your chart, and how can you tap into that leadership energy? Start by taking a look at your own chart to see if Gate 7 is defined (the line is colored in)  or undefined (the line is blank). Next, look at the G-Center to see if it is defined (colored in) or undefined (blank).

Here are the possibilities:

Defined Gate 7 in a Defined G-Center

If Gate 7 is defined for you in a defined centre you have access to this energy always. It’s part of who you are. You’re a natural leader and will naturally influence those around you.

Defined Gate 7 in an Undefined G-Center

If Gate 7 is defined for you in an undefined centre it is considered dormant. It will be activated when you are with someone who has Gate 31 defined OR when a planetary transit defines Gate 31. The themes of hanging gates in undefined centres often play out in relationships.

Accessing Energy with an Undefined Gate 7

If Gate 7 is undefined for you, fear not! 
You’ll have access to the energy of this gate when you are with others who have it defined and/or through planetary transits. You can borrow this energy by being in the aura of someone who has it defined.

Where in your life have you naturally led others or influenced them in some way?
Has this been a conscious choice or does it just happen naturally?

Unveiling The Shadow of Gate 7

The shadow of Gate 7, according to Gene Keys, is division.
We can all bring to mind a few leaders in history that have used their influence to divide and conquer so I’ll just leave it at that.

When someone with Gene Key 7 speaks, others listen.
They have a frequency that sounds like they know what they’re talking about so they’re easy to follow down any trail. With Gene Key 7 defined, it’s important to have strong boundaries lest you lead others where they don’t want or need to go.

A personal exercise for Gate 7 awareness

I’d love to invite you to notice all of the ways you influence others. Take some time to journal the first time you realized that people would follow along.

Did this feel natural and welcoming or does it feel burdensome?
Are there places in your life where you decline to lead because you’re afraid?
Where are you holding yourself back from influencing and leading?
