Introduction to Human Design Gate 38 and Gene Key 38

Human Design Gate 38 is The Gate of The Fighter. If you have Gate 38 defined, you are a warrior.
In this gate lives individuality. It’s about carving your own path, going your own way, standing up for what you believe in, often the underdog. You’re here to understand what’s worth fighting for and to fight for it with gusto. And you’re stubborn.
If the entire channel isn’t defined for you, you may flounder, looking for a fight, not understanding what’s worth fighting for and what’s not.

Location of Gate 38 in your Human Design Chart

Gate 38 is located in the Root Center of the bodygraph or human design chart.

The 38-28 Channel and Gate 38’s Human Design Circuitry

Think of Human Design Circuitry as the circuit board that lies beneath the rest of your design. Circuitry is the thing that all other aspects are placed upon. It lays the foundation and the energies here never change.  

There are 3 main circuits in Human Design: Individual, Collective, and Tribal. 

This gate is part of the Channel of Struggle (Channel 38-28).
It’s Individual Energy and is a Projected channel. If the whole channel is defined for you, you are on your own hero’s journey. This is all about following your own path and doing what you believe in, staying true to yourself. The ultimate struggle for you is to find out what you’re really here for. What is your purpose? Strenuous physical activity is a must for you with this channel defined!! You need somewhere for the ‘fight’ to go!

Tapping into Gate 38’s Energy

How does Gate 38 show up in your chart, and how can you tap into that warrior energy? Start by taking a look at your own chart to see if Gate 38 is defined (the line is colored in)  or undefined (the line is blank). Next, look at the Root Center to see if it is defined (colored in) or undefined (blank).

Here are the possibilities:

Defined Gate 38 in a Defined Root Center

If Gate 38 is defined for you in a defined centre you have access to this energy always. It’s part of who you are. You’re a warrior, a born fighter. 

Defined Gate 38 in an Undefined Root Center

If Gate 38 is defined for you in an undefined centre it is considered dormant. It will be activated when you are with someone who has Gate 28 (the Gate of Preponderance of the Great), defined OR when a planetary transit defines this gate.

Accessing Energy with an Undefined Gate 38

If Gate 38 is undefined for you, fear not! 
You’ll have access to the energy of this gate when you are with others who have it defined and/or through planetary transits. You can borrow this energy by being in the aura of someone who has it defined.

Unveiling The Shadow of Gate 38

The shadow of Gate 38, according to Gene Keys, is struggle. Go figure!

In the lowest expression, this gate struggles for everything, even things of no significance yet it fails to fight for what’s worth fighting for – purpose!
Richard Rudd (Gene Keys) explains that Gene Key 38 moves from struggle, through perseverance, into honour. He urges you to pour your energy into your purpose, into something worth fighting for, and forget the rest.

A personal exercise for Gate 38 awareness

This is a big one.
Sit quietly with yourself and contemplate if you are truly living your purpose. Are you doing what you came here to do or are you struggling with things that won’t matter in the long run?
