Introduction to Human Design Gate 23 and Gene Key 23

Human Design Gate 23 is the Gate of Assimilation. This gate is all about expressing innovative ways of thinking. It gives voice to the insights of Gate 43.

As part of the Genius to Freak channel, people with Gate 23 defined have a really unique way of looking at things. The gift of this gate is being able to put this into words. The rub with this gate is that the message often doesn’t land well. It’s really important to remember that this is Projected energy and therefore it’s best received when you’ve been invited to share your insights.

Location of Gate 23 in your Human Design Chart

Gate 23 is located in the Throat center of the bodygraph or human design chart.

The 43-23 Channel and Gate 23’s Human Design Circuitry

Think of Human Design Circuitry as the circuit board that lies beneath the rest of your design. Circuitry is the thing that all other aspects are placed upon. It lays the foundation and the energies here never change.  

There are 3 main circuits in Human Design: Individual, Collective, and Tribal. 

This is part of the Channel of Structuring 43-23 (Genius to Freak).
It’s Projected energy which is received best when it’s asked to share.
People with this channel defined have a really different way of looking at life, and at the world. 
They’re here to change the way that others see things.
They’ll bring a more efficient way to do things, through their innovative spin on things BUT they often blurt things out and seem judgemental or critical when they share without being invited.

Tapping into Gate 23’s Energy

How does Gate 23 show up in your chart, and how can you tap into that innovative energy? Start by taking a look at your own chart to see if Gate 23 is defined (the line is colored in)  or undefined (the line is blank). Next, look at the Throat Center to see if it is defined (colored in) or undefined (blank).

Here are the possibilities:

Defined Gate 23 in a Defined Throat Center

If Gate 23 is defined for you in a defined centre you have access to this energy always. It’s part of who you are. You are someone who has a unique way of looking at things. You’re an innovative, out of the box, thinker.

Defined Gate 23 in an Undefined Throat Center

If Gate 23 is defined for you in an undefined centre it is considered dormant. It will be activated when you are with someone who has Gate 43 (the Gate of Insight or Breakthrough), defined OR when a planetary transit defines this gate.

Accessing Energy with an Undefined Gate 23

If Gate 23 is undefined for you, fear not! 
I almost want to tell you to take a big exhale because so often the people that I work with who have this gate, wish they didn’t (until they learn to use it properly, that is).
You’ll have access to the energy of this gate when you are with others who have it defined and/or through planetary transits. You can borrow this energy by being in the aura of someone who has it defined. 

Unveiling The Shadow of Gate 23

The shadow of Gate 23, according to Gene Keys, is complexity.
BOY do I see this play out with my clients!
In the lowest expression, this gate complicates everything. Nothing is straightforward.
The gift of this gate however, is simplicity. Richard Rudd (Gene Keys) explains that Gene Key 23 moves from complexity, through simplicity, to quintessence. Other words for quintessence are; distillation, core, and essence which tells me that at its highest expression, Gate 23 is here to get to the essence of something so that it can be understood. 

A personal exercise for Gate 23 awareness

Where are you complicating things?
Take note of one thing in your life that you’re complicating and ask how you can simplify it and get to the core of what needs to be done.

Embrace the Human Design Gate 23 Mantra:

Simple is best.
