Introduction to Human Design Gate 21 and Gene Key 21

Human Design Gate 21 is The Gate of Control.
In traditional Human Design, it’s referred to as The Gate of Biting Through.
YIKES!
It’s all about being financially or materially independent and maintaining control of resources.

People with Gate 21 defined, don’t love being told what to do, especially when it comes to money!
It’s said that Gate 21 makes the money and Gate 45 doles it out where it’s needed, in effect resourcing
the tribe.

Location of Gate 21 in your Human Design Chart

Gate 21 is located in the Ego Center of the bodygraph or human design chart.

The 21-45 Channel and Gate 21’s Human Design Circuitry

Think of Human Design Circuitry as the circuit board that lies beneath the rest of your design. Circuitry is the thing that all other aspects are placed upon. It lays the foundation and the energies here never change.  

There are 3 main circuits in Human Design: Individual, Collective, and Tribal. 

This is part of the Channel of The Money Line (21-45).
It’s Manifested energy that connects the Will Centre to the Throat Centre. Channel 21-45 is part of the Ego Circuit. It’s all about being well resourced and making money through the power of will. The most natural thing in the world is for you to be your own boss because you hate having anyone tell you what to do or try to control you.

With this channel, you are a one man show. 

Tapping into Gate 21’s Energy

How does Gate 21 show up in your chart, and how can you tap into that leadership energy? Start by taking a look at your own chart to see if Gate 21 is defined (the line is colored in)  or undefined (the line is blank). Next, look at the Ego Center to see if it is defined (colored in) or undefined (blank).

Here are the possibilities:

Defined Gate 21 in a Defined Ego Center

If Gate 21 is defined for you in a defined centre you have access to this energy always. It’s part of who you are. You are assertive and a born leader.

Defined Gate 21 in an Undefined Ego Center

If Gate 21 is defined for you in an undefined centre it is considered dormant. It will be activated when you are with someone who has Gate 45 (the Gate of Gathering Together), defined OR when a planetary transit defines this gate. Gate 45 is said to bring King or Queen energy to the chart. It’s the overseer of distributing the resources. The themes of hanging gates in undefined centres often play out in relationships.

Accessing Energy with an Undefined Gate 21

If Gate 21 is undefined for you, fear not! 
You’ll have access to the energy of this gate when you are with others who have it defined and/or through planetary transits. You can borrow this energy by being in the aura of someone who has it defined.

Unveiling The Shadow of Gate 21

The shadow of Gate 21, according to Gene Keys, is control.
Richard Rudd (Gene Keys) explains that Gene Key 21 moves from control, through authority, to valour. He further defines valour as courage combined with great love and challenges Gene Key 21 that control through service is the way.

A personal exercise for Gate 21 awareness

As you move through your day, notice all of the ways in which you seek control.  

Embrace the Human Design Gate 21 Mantra:

Control is simply an illusion. It’s a story I’m making up because it holds the illusion of safety.
