Gate 11 (Gene Key 11) is the Gate of Ideas; explore its position in the human design chart, the 11-56 channel, and the Ajna Center; harness Gate 11’s curiosity;
Introduction to Human Design Gate 11 and Gene Key 11
Human Design Gate 11 is all about ideas. The thing is, the ideas of Gate 11 are for others and not the person getting the ideas! If this gate is defined for you, you are the steward of ideas. You hold them until it’s time to share them with the right person.
The analogy Karen Curry Parker shares is that of an ocean of ideas. Some people will go with a shovel, some with a bucket, the Gate 11 person backs up a tanker truck and continues to load up ideas until it’s full. There are never enough ideas!
When working with clients with Gate 11, I encourage them to keep an idea journal, creating a safe space to hold all of their wonderful ideas. Every so often, sit down and go through the book. Some ideas they’ll remember, some they’ll act on, some they’ll have a clear understanding of who they’re for. No idea will be lost!
Gate 11 is endlessly curious. Fun Fact! It’s the gate of the left eye.
Location of Gate 11 in your Human Design Chart
Gate 11 is located in the Ajna center of the bodygraph or human design chart.
The 11-56 Channel and Gate 11’s Human Design Circuitry
Think of Human Design Circuitry as the circuit board that lies beneath the rest of your design. Circuitry is the thing that all other aspects are placed upon. It lays the foundation and the energies here never change.
There are 3 main circuits in Human Design: Individual, Collective, and Tribal.
As part of The Channel of Curiosity, which is part of the Sensing circuit, storytelling is rooted here. Channel 11-56 is all about ideas and experiences stimulating great stories to be passed down. This is projected energy so it’s best to wait to share ideas until you’re asked.
Tapping into Gate 11’s Energy
How does Gate 11 show up in your chart, and how can you tap into that curious energy? Start by taking a look at your own chart to see if Gate 11 is defined (the line is colored in) or undefined (the line is blank). Next, look at the Ajna Center to see if it is defined (colored in) or undefined (blank).
Here are the possibilities:
Defined Gate 11 in a Defined Ajna Center
If Gate 11 is defined for you in a defined centre you have access to this energy always. It’s part of who you are. You’re a curious person with lots and lots of ideas!
Defined Gate 11 in an Undefined Ajna Center
If Gate 11 is defined for you in an undefined centre it is considered dormant. It will be activated when you are with someone who has Gate 56 (the Gate of Storytelling) defined OR when a planetary transit defines Gate 56. The themes of hanging gates in undefined centres often play out in relationships.
Accessing Energy with an Undefined Gate 11
If Gate 11 is undefined for you, fear not! You’ll have access to the energy of this gate when you are with others who have it defined and/or through planetary transits. You can borrow this energy by being in the aura of someone who has it defined.
Unveiling The Shadow of Gate 11
The shadow of Gate 11, according to Gene Keys, is obscurity.
Other words for obscurity are mysteriousness, ambiguity, esoterism. According to Richard, the shadow is all about getting lost in the fluff – getting led into obscurity and not trusting ourselves.
A personal exercise for Gate 11 awareness
Get an idea book! Seriously. Without one, you’ll drive yourself mad. Lean into your strategy and authority to know which ideas truly are for you and be a loving steward of the rest until the time is right to share.
Embrace the Human Design Gate 11 Mantra:
I lovingly care for ideas until the time is right to share them.
