When the soul wants to experience something, she throws out an image in front of her and steps into it.
The last 3 years my soul has been on the biggest journey of my life, so far. My soul must have been feeling very stagnant!!
If you’d told me 5 years ago that I’d be at a retreat centre, carrying a hand-stitched bag, wearing pants made of recycled plastic bottles, and listening to “earth sounds” while writing a blog post, I’d have said you were crazy. Yet here I am and I feel more at ease with myself than I ever have before.
I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to walk away from a life that was no longer serving me and to step into another calling. The temptation there was to say a greater calling but the truth is, what I had been doing, was what I was called to do for a very long time. It wasn’t less than what I’m doing now, it was just different. It served me, and others, for a time.
I can’t begin to put into words the changes that have come from inside over the past 3 years. I barely understand them myself. What I can tell you is this, it’s an awakening that’s unfolding. I see this happening in my clients in the 40+ age bracket as well. There’s something that begins to happen to women, especially at this age. When I did my case studies in school, one of the things people could check off (as a stressor) was “unrealized expectations” I didn’t have one woman over 40 who left this box unchecked.
We just come to a point, a tipping point. I don’t know if we start to realize our impermanence, if it’s a rebelling of sorts against the nesting that we may have done in the first ½ of our lives, or something else entirely.
Maybe you’re there. Maybe you’re struggling, fed up, sick and tired, worn down.
Perhaps your soul has tossed something forward and you’re hesitant to step into it.
My guess is that you felt the toss. Some part of you knows that something is changing or needs to change. There’s a stirring there.
I can tell you that the other side of the hump is a beautiful place to be but it comes at a price. Relationships don’t all survive. Children don’t always understand. Bank accounts dwindle. Change hurts sometimes. It’s uncomfortable and messy and you’ll wish for a magical unicorn to take you to a different place.
The soul can toss out more of an experience than we bargained for!
Listen to that small voice. Give it your attention because when we are not in line with our life’s purpose, the soul will get our attention however it can. . Don’t let it take a crisis to make you stop and listen.
Barbara Sher says that “As soon as you begin to pursue a dream, your life wakes up and everything has meaning”
What I see happening around me, and what was happening within me, is that the things that I was doing no longer held meaning for me. If you’re here, I offer you a bit of a “rub”
Don’t wait – life goes faster than you think. You came here to do something. Go lady balls to the wall and get it done.
